This is us...we tried to have a formal family portrait taken and this was our favorite, which the photographer took while we were cutting up.
The idea behind this blog is really to document the new adventure that our family and friends are beginning.
No one has cancer alone. It affects everyone who knows the patient. It's scary, awkward, and it's very, very personal. But, cancer is a fact of life and it's unlikely that you don't know someone, directly or indirectly, who has had it.
So as we began this new part of our life together, for our family there were two very simple choices; be scared and talk about it in hushed terms, or say the word "CANCER" out loud giving it body, making it real and not giving it power over us.
We chose the latter approach and this blog is part of our plan.
This is not, "Look at us we have cancer!" Our family is no different than any of the others who face this trial. But we have decided to be very public and up front about everything we are going through and what we are learning in the process.
We seek only prayers for all the individuals and families who face this fight every minute of every hour of every day. We all need that prayer and support.
